The introduction of polystyrene board insulation (aeroBoard) in the late 70's, early 80's was mandatory in order to comply with the then introduced building regulations. However the thickness required was one inch (25mm). A number of years later the thickness was increased to one and half inches (40mm) and in the mid 90's was again increase to two and half inches (60mm). Today's stringent regulations require four inches (150mm) of similar type insulation. As the normal cavity in new buildings is four inches (100mm), other superior products, such as Graphite beads or Foam Fill, are now commonly used to completely fill the cavity.

Most houses built between 1982 and 2004 will have some level of wall insulation. However, compared to houses constructed under today's standards, they will perform very poorly with regard to heat retention and energy efficiency. This is particularly true in older houses and in houses where the insulation board was carelessly cut and fitted. The thermal performance of these houses can be tremendously improved by the installation of FOAMFILL to supplement the existing insulation.

THE PROCEDURE

Small injection holes are drilled in the external walls, FOAMFILL is injected under a 120 lbs of pressure, forcing the existing board tight against the inner leaf and completely filling the remainder of the cavity. Thermal improvements of up to 300% can be achieved, adding dramatically to the energy efficiency and comfort levels of the home.
